About the Meredith A. Cowden Foundation |
|
The Meredith A. Cowden Foundation is very excited about our newest event, the “Six Courses for a Cure” gourmet wine dinner.
In 2001 at the age of 19, Meredith Cowden was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Fortunately, she is now cancer-free but has a continuing fight against Graft vs Host Disease, a complication of a life-saving bone marrow transplant. It is a condition in which the new immune system, created by the bone marrow transplant, views the recipient as the enemy and attacks all parts of the body. GvHD presents itself in many ways, some acute, some chronic, sadly sometimes fatal.
In an effort to help others like herself who are battling the on-going effects of Graft vs Host Disease, the Cowden Foundation is devoting the funds raised at this event for the second GvHD Medical Symposium which will be held in Renaissance Hotel in Cleveland at 24 Public Square on November 4, 2011. The symposium will be open to both physicians and patients and their families.
We hope you will join us on Friday, August 19, 2011 at The Sheraton Suites Akron/Cuyahoga Falls where we will:
SIT DOWN FOR DINNER . . . STAND UP AGAINST LEUKEMIA!
